Summary

Everything is 。 。 。

MAMA!

Jimmy Fallon, one of the most popular entertainers in the world and NBC's Tonight Show host, was on a mission with his first children's book to have every baby's first word be DADA。 And it worked! A lot of babies' first words were DADA。 However, everything after that was MAMA。

So take a lighthearted look at the world from your baby's point of view as different animals try to teach their children that there are other words in addition to MAMA for familiar objects and activities, now available in board book。

This is a really cute book, just not for grade school

This was a very cute book that would be perfect for younger kiddos still learning how to talk。 Neither one of my kids have called things “mama”, but this is still a cute sentiment。 This book is short and simple, and is great for teaching beginner words to little ones。 I would definitely reread this to my infant as he gets older and starts talking more。

This is a very cute book, although simple, it is perfect for kids around 4 and under, and Mr。 Ordóñez did a wonderful job with the illustrations!

Cute little board book with dadas and babies。 The dadas want the babies to say dada, but the babies just make their animal sounds。

Some may find this book a little basic, but in the thick of the parenting trenches I found it almost overwhelmingly endearing。 How wonderful when babies can express their love for you in everything they see。

My daughter (almost 2) LOVES this book but I am SO BORED of reading it。 There is just 1 word on each page (and half of those words are Mama) so it’s very repetitive。 It is cute, and the illustrations are cute, and she loves it, so I can’t be too harsh。 But it is possible to have books that are more fun for adults to read aloud than this, even wordless books。 Another review compared this to Goodnight Moon like “how can people complain this boring, have you read Goodnight Moon, it’s boring too” bu My daughter (almost 2) LOVES this book but I am SO BORED of reading it。 There is just 1 word on each page (and half of those words are Mama) so it’s very repetitive。 It is cute, and the illustrations are cute, and she loves it, so I can’t be too harsh。 But it is possible to have books that are more fun for adults to read aloud than this, even wordless books。 Another review compared this to Goodnight Moon like “how can people complain this boring, have you read Goodnight Moon, it’s boring too” but I disagree。 I known I’m a snobby curmudgeon but I have to hold my ground (and it has nothing to do with Jimmy Fallon being the author of this book)。 I could read Goodnight Moon a million times and not get bored because it’s poetry and this book is not in that league。 Which doesn’t make it bad! It just works more for the kid and less for me。 。。。more

Just like the first book in the series, it's just a little too simple。 Honestly, this is the kind of book you buy for someone for a baby shower, not a book you really enjoy reading to a baby or toddler。 It's like the coffee table book of picture books。 Just like the first book in the series, it's just a little too simple。 Honestly, this is the kind of book you buy for someone for a baby shower, not a book you really enjoy reading to a baby or toddler。 It's like the coffee table book of picture books。 。。。more

Cute but not ground breaking haha。 Probably funnier to a parent of a little one who can only say mama than the kiddo but still sweet with beautiful illustrations。

Meredith

Read this to my baby。 🥰

I mean, it’s Jimmy Fallon! Cute, simple illustrations and a fun concept。

For: animal fans; readers looking for a simple animal book about the relationship between a mother and child。Possible red flags: some may find it too simple。

Everything is Mama is the hit follow-up to Jimmy Fallon’s #1 NYT bestseller Your Baby’s First Word Will be Dada。 While the latter hit the NYT list based on name recognition and not for its text, Everything is Mama is a beautifully written book that’s perfect for the littlest listeners and readers。The animals are back, but this time everything is Mama。 The mamas are trying to expand their little one’s vocabulary, but the littles aren’t having it。 Sun? Mama。 Waffle? Mama。 Unlike the previous book, Everything is Mama is the hit follow-up to Jimmy Fallon’s #1 NYT bestseller Your Baby’s First Word Will be Dada。 While the latter hit the NYT list based on name recognition and not for its text, Everything is Mama is a beautifully written book that’s perfect for the littlest listeners and readers。The animals are back, but this time everything is Mama。 The mamas are trying to expand their little one’s vocabulary, but the littles aren’t having it。 Sun? Mama。 Waffle? Mama。 Unlike the previous book, the animals are more anthropomorphized。 (Mama Monkey has as skirt and a purse。) The vocabulary is perfect for a little one just learning to echo。 And kids a bit older may love the joke of calling a waffle “Mama!”Sun, waffle, hat, shoes, flower, boat, apples, ball, balloon, noodles, bubbles, pajamas, moon—they’re all mama。 There is one panel, where baby Duck responds with “Quack。” It’s a break from the pattern and it’s not explained, but as a parent whose child has a speech delay, my interpretation was that some babies don’t say mama, they need extra time to say mama, and that’s okay。 It really struck me in a way I didn’t expect and I don’t know for sure if that was Fallon’s intention, but I actually teared up a bit that my non-verbal child was included in a book about words。The final two panels read “Everything is Mama according to you / But one day you’ll see, Mama’s everything is you。” It’s a beautiful, emotive finish that’s just absolutely perfect。 I bought this for a friend who just had a baby, but immediately went out and bought another for my children。 。。。more

I liked this a lot better than "Dada"。 Super clever and the end was sweet。 I liked this a lot better than "Dada"。 Super clever and the end was sweet。 。。。more

I thought that this was a really good book for very young studnets because it was very simple language and also extrememely repetative。 However the concept was wonderful and would be a perfect for a mother to read with her child。

| Read on Reader Fox | But there are other fun words you'll want to know, too。I read two books this year that were written by talk-show hosts called Jimmy。 Everything is Mama by Jimmy Fallon was the worse of the two。 I know, I know, the general discourse on this one is that it's cute and it makes light of an experience that many fathers, perhaps, experience。 But it's just very pointless, simple, and silly。 I don't mean in a good way。You know those moments when a celebrity for some wild reaso | Read on Reader Fox | But there are other fun words you'll want to know, too。I read two books this year that were written by talk-show hosts called Jimmy。 Everything is Mama by Jimmy Fallon was the worse of the two。 I know, I know, the general discourse on this one is that it's cute and it makes light of an experience that many fathers, perhaps, experience。 But it's just very pointless, simple, and silly。 I don't mean in a good way。You know those moments when a celebrity for some wild reason thinks, hey, maybe I should write a children's book and it kind of just comes out lackluster and dumb? And to top it all off, he's not even the illustrator so how much work did he actually put into this? Yeah, that's how I'd describe this book。 Now, you'll never catch me judging a kid for what they like to read。 So, if for whatever reason this is the book your kid wants to read all the time, power to them。 Other than minute entertainment for kids who are really close to their moms。。。this book is stupid and pointless。 It doesn't really teach anything。 There's no important message to learn or leave the book with。It's just。。。silly。 I'll Give Fallon This。。。No, wait。 Miguel Ordóñez is actually the one who deserves the credit here: the artwork is pretty friggin cute。 I honestly have nothing but praise for the downright adorable animal art in this book。 I don't know if I can even say I have a favorite because they are all just so darn precious。 So, cute illustrations join ridiculous children's book story that never would have gotten published in the first place had its author not been famous for some other reason。 Yay?In the end。。。I'm kind of at a loss, here。 I don't hate the book, but I don't find it very impressive, either。 It's a silly book idea that doesn't really have much substance at all。 But yeah, if it gets a kid to read then it's not all bad。 I wouldn't spend money on it, though。| Instagram | Twitter | Reader Fox Blog | Bloglovin’ | Facebook | 。。。more

The Word Collector by Peter H。 ReynoldsThis book was about a boy named Jerome that loved to collect words。 He collected all types of words he heard, saw and read。 He used his words to write poems and songs and in the end he shared all his words with others。 The illustrations in the book are eye catching, I think it will keep children’s attention。 This is a book I would share with Preschool to third grade。 It would be a good book to introduce vocabulary words and create a word book or a word wall The Word Collector by Peter H。 ReynoldsThis book was about a boy named Jerome that loved to collect words。 He collected all types of words he heard, saw and read。 He used his words to write poems and songs and in the end he shared all his words with others。 The illustrations in the book are eye catching, I think it will keep children’s attention。 This is a book I would share with Preschool to third grade。 It would be a good book to introduce vocabulary words and create a word book or a word wall。 。。。more

This book would be good for younger students possibly in preschool。 There is plenty of opportunities to interact with the students。 It may also be good for students who have younger siblings at home that haven't really started talking yet, and only say "Mama!" I think this is ideal for one-on-one reading with an infant or almost-toddler because the reader can point to the items on the page that match the word。 But there aren't very many full sentences and that makes it hard to use in group reads。 I think this is ideal for one-on-one reading with an infant or almost-toddler because the reader can point to the items on the page that match the word。 But there aren't very many full sentences and that makes it hard to use in group reads。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I really enjoyed this book since the entire story is about how mama is the most important person to the baby since they are their entire world。

Baby was riveted - that’s all you need! Cute pictures, not very many words。
